Matthew Smith, M.D., serves as a Hospitalist at Autumn View, Garden Gate Harris Hill and Seneca, bringing more than two decades of experience in internal medicine and hospital-based care. A member of Buffalo Medical Group since 2003, Dr. Smith is committed to providing high-quality, resident-centered medical care while working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote positive outcomes and enhance quality of life.
Dr. Smith earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He completed his Internal Medicine specialty training through the University at Buffalo and its affiliated hospitals, with a focus on Hospital Medicine. His extensive clinical experience has provided him with a strong foundation in managing the complex medical needs of post-acute and long-term care residents.
In addition to his role at The McGuire Group facilities, Dr. Smith serves as Co-Medical Director for Inpatient and Subacute Medicine at Buffalo Medical Group. He has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to physician leadership, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Buffalo Medical Group from 2011 to 2015. He is an active member of both the American Medical Association and the Society of Hospital Medicine.
