Christopher Schaefer, MD, serves as a physician at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He joined the facility in June 2024 and brings a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to care. Dr. Schaefer focuses on developing individualized care plans that align with each resident’s goals, working closely with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to support overall well-being.
Dr. Schaefer earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Harvard College. He has experience in post-acute and long-term care medicine, supporting residents through a range of health care needs. His approach emphasizes communication, collaboration, and respect for each resident’s unique journey.
Originally from Buffalo, Dr. Schaefer returned to the area in 2001 after spending time in other locations and plans on never leaving. “It’s the best place to live,” he stated.
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the outdoors, cooking for his family, and relaxing by the water.
